Language Training - E-learning

RTS has incorporated some of the leading e-learning platforms into its language training programmes to produce cost-effective blended solutions. These are particularly suitable for those who need to adapt their learning process to more varied, flexible work patterns and would be unable to commit to a wholly classroom-based project.

Two typical course formats which have proved to be particularly successful are illustrated below:

1. On-line learning blended with classroom-based tuition for individual courses and small group courses.

The participant studies on-line (or off-line if the module has been downloaded).
RTS provides the participant with an itinerary for the on-line course.
The Trainer is able to log on in order to monitor the participant's progress.
The Trainer prepares a lesson based on the contents of the participant's on-line studies.
The Trainer informs the participant of the contents of the lesson.
The participant reviews what has been studied in preparation for the lesson.
The participant and Trainer meet for the lesson - the main aim being to utilise and practice the language being studied.
For individual courses, the Trainer and participant set up the time and date of the next lesson.

2. On-line learning blended with virtual classroom-based tuition for individual courses only.

This follows the same pattern as the solution above but with the added advantage of total flexibility. This is offered to the participant through a flexible timetable and by holding the lesson in a virtual classroom with audio, whiteboard and file/program sharing.

Web-conferencing platforms used vary according to particular needs and constraints and are available for dial-up and broadband connections.

E-learning advantages

Participants learn anytime, anywhere, on-line or off-line without sacrificing work commitments.
By studying the target language through an e-learning platform, the participant is freer to spend more time with the Trainer (face to face or in a virtual classroom) on the activation and communicative practice of that language. The participant can therefore derive the maximum benefit from the sessions with the Trainer.
Pace of learning can be adapted to changing individual requirements
A well-planned flexible e-learning process can achieve optimum results for minimum expenditure.
